I cheer for West Coast Extreme Cheer. A international cheerleading team that travels from state to state to compete for the top prize. In April my team got invited to go to Championships at Disney Land in California. So it being my first time at Disney I was beyond the point of excited.
We left a Thursday and got home on Tuesday. So Thursday was check in day for all the girls and boys and our time to relax to compete in the morning... The next day we all got up at 6 am and did our hair, our makeup, and went out to breakfast. So now its 7 and we all got on our shutter buses and drove to the L.A Convention Center. We got there and there was more then 5 thousands cheerleaders there so you knew it was a huge deal.
Later the day my team had competed and so did the other teams. Each team had to be placed first to be a runner up for the Championship Trophy. The next day we all had to compete again, and after each division competed the judges would announce what place you got. When the judge announced first place for Senior 5 all stars he had announced "West Coast Extreme Senior 5." The girls on my team jumped and screamed and cried. So Friday we had to compete three times and we got first place each time.
Saturday & Sunday was a day for us cheerleaders to play at Disney Land, and the cool thing about going there that day Disney had shut down the park just for us cheerleaders so there were no lines for anything it was perfect! After riding almost every ride there, I would have to say my favorite ride was a Buzz Lightyear. The ride was scary but fun at the same time. You would be in the cart in a tunnel circle what looks like space then out of the blue it would be pitch dark and there were sharp turns that jerked you one way then the other and this went on for about 5 minutes. The best ride ever!
Monday came rolling around and we had to competed some more so we did the same thing we had done Thursday and Friday. The day was finally over and every single cheerleader so all 5 thousand were holding hands and waiting nervously and impatiently. We waited and waited some more finally the judges got through all the places and when they were going to announce the first place Championship winner, my team squeezed our hands, closed our eyes, and prayed..... "WEST COAST EXTREME SENIOR 5!!!!" When the judge said that all the water works started happening. My team ran up on to the stage and grabbed our 6 foot trophy and our other prized, we got our picture taken more then million times, well at least that's what it felt like. Winning that trophy was the best feeling in the world and I would die to relive that feeling everyday!
